Copyrighted Material?

Postby Peter Ansoff on 04 Feb 2010 04:41

While looking around the forum, I've noticed several examples of what appear to be copyrighted materials in some of the posts. The most recent is the (very interesting!) article on the red/white/blue Iranian flag, which seems to have been lifted intact from the New York Times. Some others appear to be from book illustrations. Posting material like this on a web site without permission is against the law in the USA, and, I assume, in most other countries. I wonder if we should have a policy regarding this. For example, I believe that it is generally OK to post short extracts of news articles, along with a link to the site that they came from.

Best to all,

I think what you suggested, i.e posting short extracts of the news articles, is the way to handle these things to avoid problems.
